The unmissable stops in Val di Fassa Trentino

Val di Fassa contains the most spectacular panoramas of Trentino Alto Adige. Here are the unmissable stages. Land of myths and legends, perhaps for the breathtaking views and fairy-tale landscapes, because it is surrounded by the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Canazei

We are at the far north of Val di Fassa, in the province of Trento: Canazei it is a town of just under 2.000 inhabitants nestled between important Dolomite groups and surrounded by peaks of the Marmolada, the Sella Group and the Sassolungo.

Around Canazei we find the most beautiful ski slopes of Val di Fassa, unique landscapes for hiking or hiking mountain bike and relaxation at the aquatic centre: a 100% Trentino holiday! Around the Sella there is a panoramic road that connects the 4 valleys with 4 passes, among the most famous in Italy also because it is the scene of epic sporting challenges, especially in cycling: Gardena Pass, Pordoi Pass, Sella Pass and Campolongo Pass. There is the possibility of making the "tour" even in winter, with skis on, thanks to the connections of ski slopes and facilities of the “Sella Ronda”. A true winter and summer carousel that allows you to easily enjoy the various locations, moving around in a short time! Staying in one of these 4 valleys is certainly a safe choice for a holiday that will surprise you with its exuberant nature. The towns we suggest are, in no particular order: Selva Gardena, Colfosco, Corvara, La Villa, Arabba, Canazei, Ortisei, Moena, San Cassiano.

Highlights

  • A winter jewel for skiing, a summer paradise for trekking.
  • Unforgettable excursions in the Dolomites.
  • Ladin festivals and traditions.
  • Cheese tasting in the mountain hut and typical dishes of the valley.

MOENA

At dawn and sunset the peaks of the Dolomites that surround it are tinged with pink: this is why Moena is known as the Fairy of the Dolomites, in the heart of Val di Fassa. Moena is a town of around 2.000 inhabitants in the province of Trento and located in Val di Fassa, a stone's throw from Val di Fiemme, just over 1.100 meters above sea level. In summer it is surrounded by green and flowery pastures and in winter by snow-capped Dolomite groups such as the famous SellaCatinaccio and Latemar: welcomes tourists all year round lovers of outdoor sports and Ladin tradition.

Highlights

  • Shopping, aperitifs and walks in the centre.
  • Taste the Puzzone di Moena.
  • Discover the legends of King Laurin.

Recently awarded to Green Destinations Awards as a destination that promotes a sustainable tourism (the center becomes one during the high season pedestrian zone with alternative means of transport and numerous e-bikes), Moena is fortunate to be located at the foot of the most beautiful Dolomites in Trentino. Here in summer you can relax with long hours walks and excursions on foot or by mountain bike, take a bath in the swimming pools and hydromassage tubs of the accommodation facilities, or shopping among the artisan shops and the typical markets in the centre.

And again, taste local products such as the well-known Puzzone di Moena DOP, the cheese that has been a Slow Food presidium for years, with the unmistakable taste of mountain pasture herbs. The Ladin culinary tradition is very alive here, enhanced both by restaurants and by food and wine events such as At the table with the fairy of the Dolomites, in winter, and Flavors of autumn, in September, two moments to celebrate and enhance local raw materials. In winter, however, you can hit the slopes Ski Area Alpe Lusia – San Pellegrino, a ski area with a functional network of ski lifts and slopes with unique scenarios.

Those who practice it instead cross country will find al Alochet Fund Center, two kilometers from the San Pellegrino Pass, beautiful paths that wind through large clearings and snow-covered woods. Furthermore, it is precisely from Moena that the famous one starts Marcialonga of Fiemme and Fassa, the most important cross-country skiing event in Italy, held in January.

VIGO DI FASSA

From the town a cable car reaches 1998 meters in just a few minutes Ciampedìe, magnificent natural terrace overlooking the Dolomites. A dominant town over the valley and always kissed by the sun, where the view takes your breath away: from Vigo di Fassa the gaze ranges from Cima Undici and Cima Dodici up to the Marmolada. It is not for nothing that sport mountaineering took root here at the end of the 800th century, with the construction of numerous refuges starting with Vajolet. Thanks to the modern cable car, both summer excursions and climbing and, in winter, the incomparable joy of skiing at 2 meters are within everyone's reach, always guaranteed thanks to programmed snow.

Also younger children they can have fun in the pure air and in complete safety in one of the Baby Park pthe highest in the world thanks also to the assistance of Kinderpark Ciampedie Laurin.

Vigo is the heart and guardian of the millenary ladino culture; in addition to Ladin Museum, villages such as San Giovanni, Vallonga and Tamion keep their testimonies intact. On the hill, on the border with the forest, the ancient Church of Santa Giuliana watches over.
