Madonna of the Peaks

The route reaches two splendid frozen lakes, above which the unmistakable Cross of Peace of Cima Gardenè stands out.

Moderately demanding snowshoeing that develops along marked paths and marked by special signs showing a snowshoe. This itinerary develops in the woods and here you can breathe in the tranquility and silence until you reach the Malghet lakes, above which the metal cross of Cima Gardenè stands out. On days when the sun reflects off it, the peak looks like a ball of fire.

Safety information

For snow hiking activities follow these guidelines:

  • Inform yourself well about the route and its conditions before leaving. You can do this by contacting the tourist information office closest to you;
  • the day before the excursion, find out about the weather and the level of avalanche danger;
  • if you plan to reach a mountain hut or refuge, make sure they are open and, if you intend to stop to eat or sleep, call them in advance to book;
  • before leaving, if you don't feel well, postpone going out until you feel better;
  • never leave waste at high altitude and, if possible, avoid leaving it at the refuges or mountain huts you visit;
  • If you spot wild animals along the way, we invite you not to approach them, not to shout and to keep your dog on a leash, to prevent him from instinctively chasing them, scaring them.

Here is a list of items you should have with you when you go snowshoeing:
