Dimaro, Valley of the Horses

A trek that offers beautiful views of the Val di Sole

The itinerary winds through the long "Valle dei Cavalli", which from the locality. Carciato (Dimaro) climbs directly up to the former Malga Cavalli (2061m). The panorama widens only in the last 200-300m of altitude difference, and abundantly repays the effort made.

Direction to follow

From the car park near the information board, go up the asphalt road for a few tens of meters and then turn left (sign – path 335).

Continue along the secondary dirt road until you come across a more beautiful dirt road (signpost La Malghetta).

Arrived at the crossroads in the locality. Prà Faè turn left (sign).

Just above, pass within a few tens of meters of the mountain hut called La Malgetta and continue straight on.

At the next crossroads, keep left (sign) and continue to the end of the road where, near some ruins, the path that goes up the valley begins.

The path climbs for a good part of the way through the woods until it reaches the high altitude pastures and you reach the junction with path 308.

Once you reach the crossroads with the Sat 308 path that comes from Lake Salare, turn right at the sign and reach, in a few minutes of climbing, the Nana pass which overlooks the basin of the same name. The view over the valley to the east is spectacular.

The return takes place along the ascent route.
